Laucke Bio-Fort™ Selenium Golden Wholemeal Bread Mix

Available in 600g, 2.4kg (4x600g) & 3.6kg (6x600g) sizes.

This Golden Wholemeal Mix will reliably produce a crusty, full flavoured loaf of excellent volume and appearance. Triticale, a unique grain derived from Wheat and Rye, confers a lovely golden crust and contributes to both aroma and flavour.

Golden Wholemeal incorporates all the benefits associated with both Selenium and Whole Grains.

Eating a range of natural whole grains promotes vitality and well-being and can help protect against disease. Wholemeal, with all the goodness of the grain, promotes the growth of beneficial bacteria in the colon, and is rich in Dietary Fibre.

All bread is considered to be a valuable source of nutrition. Breads and Cereals are one of the basic food groups recommended by world health authorities.

Cellular Function:
Your body’s cells live, work and die in a constant cycle of supporting and serving your body’s systems, hence effective Cellular Function is the key to overall bodily health.  Properly maintained cells reproduce more correctly, resist damage by free radicals, fight deterioration, live longer and even die properly (apoptosis) so that the surrounding healthy cells are not compromised. The level and availability of several key micronutrients play a vital role in maintaining effective Cellular Function.

Selenium and Scientific Research:
Selenium is a vital micronutrient that is essential for proper cell function. Recommended dietary intakes, which ensure that overt Selenium deficiency diseases are avoided, are determined by health authorities and are typically 60 - 80 micrograms (µg) per day for adults.

However, avoidance of deficiency diseases is no longer seen as an adequate goal for nutrition; we are now seeking to Optimise our dietary intake in order to avoid or postpone the onset of degenerative diseases.

Recent scientific research demonstrates that maintaining Optimal levels of Selenium within your body can improve the function of the immune system, help repair and resist cellular damage, defend against damage caused by free radicals, toxins and pollutants; help protect against specific degenerative diseases, and improve the function of the body’s systems. To appreciate the full range of benefits, please consult your physician and refer to the information available from our Web site.

Scientific research suggests that around 230 µg of Selenium each day for men and around 130µg each day for women will provide Optimal nutrition and disease prevention.

Selenium intake in excess of these estimated levels has not yet been demonstrated to provide additional benefits, and is not recommended. While no adverse affects have been reported below intake levels of 800 µg per day, supplementary intake in excess of 400 µg per day for adults, and 280 µg per day for 9-13 year olds, may be detrimental and should be avoided.

While Selenium is important, the form in which we ingest Selenium is even more so.

Bio-Fortification:
is the process of producing food crops that are rich in bio-available nutrients.

Where extra nutrients are added to the soil, plants become Bio-fortified with this nutrient, delivering the benefit of this highly efficient, functional and natural process. Our bodies have adapted to efficiently metabolise natural plant foods, so when we consume these natural foods, the organic forms of nutrients contained can be readily utilised by the body.

Laucke Bio-Fort ™ products offer the surety that all nutrients are organically incorporated in the form that nature intended. Benefits include effective absorption and better retention of natural organic forms of selenium.

Laucke Bio-Fort™ Selenium products provide the means to optimise Selenium intake in a convenient and biologically natural form, in harmony with normal diet, and to obtain benefits beyond those of basic nutrition.

In many parts of the world, natural Selenium levels are too low, and are falling. Laucke use Selenium Bio-fortified grain to provide additional Selenium.

Assuming that the average adult obtains around 80 µg per day of selenium from natural food sources, additional selenium may be required to provide the Optimum intake. The gap, being around 150 µg of selenium per day for men and 50 µg per day for women, can be provided in the form of Bio-Fort Selenium.

Laucke Bio-Fort Selenium Golden Wholemeal:
Each full slice of around 80 grams of a bread machine large loaf will provide around 50 µg of Bio-Fort Selenium.

Therefore 1 full slice per day will provide about 50 µg of Selenium, 3 slices about 150 µg, and 8 slices 400 µg.

Where Selenium may or may not be obtained from other sources, intake can be adjusted.
