Spicy Date Biscuits

180 g Butter ¾ cup
10 g Vanilla Essence 2¼ tsp
115 g Sugar ½ cup
1 each Egg Yolk 1 each
240 g Laucke Wallaby Flour 1½ cups
10 g Baking Powder 2 tsp
3 g Cinnamon 1 tsp
1 g Ground Nutmeg ⅖ tsp
170 g Chopped Dates 1 cup

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 200°C.

  2. Beat butter, vanilla, sugar and egg yolk, until light and fluffy.

  3. Stir in the flour, baking powder and spices, and mix well.

  4. Add the chopped dates last.

  5. Roll 2 teaspoons of the mixture into small balls.  

  6. Place onto prepared baking trays, at least 5 cm apart to allow room for spreading.

  7. Baking temperature 200°C.

  8. Baking time 12 minutes or until golden brown.

  9. Allow the biscuits to cool on baking trays.
