Turtle Brownies

225 g Sugar 1 cup
100 g Shortening 7¾ tbsp
5 g Vanilla Essence 1 tsp
100 g Egg 2 x 50 g
105 g Laucke Wallaby Flour ⅗ cup
42 g Cocoa Powder ½ cup
3 g Baking Powder ⅔ tsp
1 g Salt ⅛ tsp
75 g Chopped Pecans or Walnuts ½ cup

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 175°C.

  2. Mix sugar, shortening, vanilla and eggs in a mixing bowl.

  3. Stir in the flour, cocoa, baking powder and salt.

  4. Spread batter onto a prepared baking tray, sprinkle the chopped nuts over the batter before baking.

  5. Baking temperature 175°C.

  6. Baking time 20 to 25 minutes or until a cake skewer inserted in the centre comes out clean.

  7. Whilst still warm, drizzle with melted caramel and allow to cool completely, then cut into squares.
